I now have a 800 number where I can call the nurses station and ask about Peggy.
I called today and I asked if I could speak to Peggy and the attendent said yes, she is sitting right here. The attendent told me that she doesn't talk but I asked her to give Peggy the phone anyway.
Peggy said hello and I was so glad to hear her voice.
Her answers to questions were usually un huh or yes but the voice is still the same. She answered in some sentences and I heard the attendents in the background say, she is talking!!!!
I know that she doesn't know who I am but she does remember the sound of my voice.
This is a nice day because I was honored to her my sister's voice once again.
She has not accepted the doll that I sent to her but it is lying on her bed. She may never accept Mary Ellen into her life and I understand that because..........
I have not and never will accept the fact that Peggy has forgotten me!
I Love You Today, Peggy!
Mary Louise

I'm glad that you are able to talk with Peggy even if she isn't able to discern your voice. BTW she hasn't forgotten you she has merely lost her ability to understand and comprehend who you are. There's a difference. I love you. John
I know how wonderful it feels when I can call the nurses station directly and can ask to speak to my nana and hear her sweet voice. I feel so blessed that she can still communicate with me and remember me. I'm almost sure that your sister, even though she can't put it into words, remembers you as well as your voice. Of course, I don't really know, but the fact that she talked at all to you, when the nurses were sure she wouldn't, really says something!
If she is speaking to you & not others then she is remembering you...even a bit of you...the sound of your voice something in her is registering to her heart! :-) So happy for you!

Oh, Mary Louise, I know that just hearing Peggy's voice was like music to your ears. Like you said.. even if she doesn't remember YOU... she remembers the sound of your voice.
I hope that she will eventually take to the baby. But, if not... God knows you tried, just like you try every day to accept what has happened to her, and can't.
God Bless
Jackie
YES!!! You have found a way to hear Peggy's voice AND to be a comfort to her!
I know she remembers you because those ladies were shocked that she spoke... and look who she chose to speak to.. MARY LOUISE...
Im sorry about the doll not being what she needs at THIS point. But your phone calls are what she and you need and you can call her and hear her voice now.
FANTASTIC NEWS!
Love,
Wendy
I am so glad you have found a way to talk to Peggy, and that she responded to your voice. Margo
So happy for you, Mary Louise. Do hope you can call everyday, as you have been doing in the past. They do look forward to those things that happen consistently, even though they are not always able to tell you, or respond the way we would like. I lost my husband to dementia three years ago, and to the end he looked forward to a daily visit from a dear friend. If it got toward evening and Keith had not arrived, he began to get very agitated. Keep calling so she can hear your voice, and on good days, you can hear hers. A blessing for each of you!
