HURRICANE WARNING

Hurricane Hanna swept up the East Coast yesterday. It brought wind and rain to thousands. People were afraid and hurried to get out of the path of the storm.

Peggy was in it's path but she couldn't get away.

I think that a hurricane is similar to Alzheimer's/Pick's disease.

First, there is only the threat of the storm that is heading for the mind.

There are warnings and red flags go up.

As the storm progresses toward the mind, family and friends brace for the worst and hope for the best.

When the storm of the mind hits, it is devastating and there is total destruction.

Destruction that cannot be reversed or fixed.... by the government, by family or friends.

Hurricane Hanna has moved along. The sky has cleared along the Carolina coast. The sun is shining, the sky returned to Carolina blue............ except in one place.

Peggy's mind.

The forecast is gloomy, the dark clouds are thick. The wind continues to swirl and the destruction is permanent

Peggy's mind is damaged but she continues to live in the calm eye of the storm.

Calm is what this sister prays for her baby sister.

I pray every day that Peggy will always live in the calm while the storm rages around her.

I Love You Today, Peggy!

I miss you always!

Mary Louise

so sweet!  So well put!

I  think your prayer of calmness for your baby sister has been answered.  Most people are voilent and are hard to deal with.  With all i have heard about Peggy, she is full of peace and calm and sweet.  God takes care in the most hurtful situations, in the most subtle ways.

Love,
Wendy

DEAR MARY LOUISE,
THE FACT THAT YOUR SISTER IS CALM IS VERY MUCH A BLESSING...SOME WITH THIS DISEASE ARE NOT...
MY MAMA IS STILL HANGING IN THERE...SHE DID NOT RECONISE  ME AT FIRST, THIS PAST SUNDAY AND I CRIED MY EYES OUT...SHE FINALLY REMEMERED WHO I WAS BUT IT BREAKS MY HEART. MY MAMA WAS TH STRONEST SMARTEST WOMAN I KNOW.....AND NOW SHE IS IN HER OWN WORLD MORE THAN IN THE REAL WORLD....
GOD BLESS YOU FOR BEING THERE FOR YOUR SISTER....

Hi Mary Louise, I am also happy that Peggy is experiencing calm...we lost another extended family member last week, he had dementia...my uncle also has been diagnosed with it, my cousin his only child lives far away, is trying to do the best she can, as we all are. My children especially my youngest is still struggling with her Grandmothers illness and death this year from Alzheimers, again it is so hard to see the almost daily downward spiral, to try to help and yet mourn the person that was.  My prayers are with you and Peggy...Mary Anne
